IH Porto is accredited as a recognized closed centre for the Cambridge ESOL examinations, namely PET, FCE, CAE and CPE.
PET
Nearly all our students expect to take the PET examination in June or November, and as it is their first major public test of English at B1 Council of Europe level we ensure that they are very well prepared in the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
The next challenge is FCE (first Certificate in English). A certificate of success at this level means that the student is now an independent user of English, and will cope effectively in day to day acts of communication with well developed skills at a B2 Council of Europe level of competence. As with PET, students from IH Porto continue to enjoy a very high percentage of success in this examination.
The Certificate in Advanced English –
CAE is exactly that, requiring of the holder a very high performance standard at C1 Council of Europe level. Whereas, FCE is generally considered the basic required standard of English for many universities in Portugal, CAE is frequently cited by universities in the UK as the standard of English required for entry on to degree or post-graduate courses for students applying from abroad.
CPE – Certificate of Proficiency in English is worldwide an examination which is very highly regarded; it is the statement of academic authority, and continues to attract many students each year in the pursuit of excellence. It is the final objective for Top Performers in English.
