• STARTERS, MOVERS and FLYERS (Young Learner Tests)

September 2008 will see International House Porto develop its new role as a Cambridge ESOL authorised Examinations Centre. We have been an accredited centre for YL Tests (Starters, Movers and Flyers) for the last 2 years but are now extending this service to main suite exams and exams for business.

The whole process from selection to certificate!
We take care of everything, from choosing the right level for you, providing training, offering exam practice (including oral interviews with trained oral examiners for the Cambridge ESOL lower suite tests) up to the exam itself. Welcome to International House Porto

In Business Services we design and deliver a diverse range of training programmes, delivering high quality language training to an increasingly broad spectrum of commercial clients. We have extensive experience in the teaching of adults in a professional environment, and have learnt that courses must be progress driven and that content should be flexible and directly reflecting the specific work-related needs of the participants. All of our courses are monitored carefully to ensure high standards. Effective coordination also saves valuable time and cost for our clients' HR and Training staff.

We also work a lot with children and young learners, helping them to develop confidence and skills as communicators, complementing their education at school. Our students are guided to success in the University of Cambridge ESOLmain suite examinations, which are globally recognized and respected accreditations of English language competencies. We take great pride in the sustained excellence of the students´academic achievements.

Since 2005 IH Porto has been very busy in the area of Teacher Training. If you are interested in taking your first steps towards a career in teaching English as a foreign language, International House will help you and give you the best of training expertise.

Tools and Support Systems

The IH Porto Intranet is a personalized system of communication between teachers, students and parents, enabling the teachers to publish periodic reports with detailed commentaries and on going evaluations plus any examination results. This is a highly sophisticated, secure and confidential system where a password user has access only to his or her area of information and may obtain an overview, of the global scores of the class as a whole throughout the academic year. First launched in 2002 the IH Porto Intranet is a unique tool, one that is user friendly, fast and effective.  This on-line information is available only to students at International House Porto. Business Intranet This more recent system was launched in September 2006 exclusively for Business Services and is already proving to be a very useful tool for Human Resource Managers, CEO´s and IH Language Trainers.
